Data-Driven Mobility Analytics

Workshop • Montreal • October 27, 2025

The Data-Driven Mobility Analytics Workshops 2025 aims to broaden the conversation on current analytical tools, frameworks, and open data that support informed decision-making in sustainable transport planning.

About

The Workshop

The urgency of addressing urban sustainability and climate change has never been greater, with cities under increasing pressure to deliver equitable, low-carbon mobility solutions. Transportation is a critical factor in both environmental sustainability and social equity, yet many cities struggle to adopt data-driven approaches that reduce emissions, improve accessibility, and optimize mobility systems.

This workshop, the second in a two-part series, seeks to bridge this gap by convening researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders from around the world at McGill University’s downtown campus in Montréal. Our aim is not only to broaden the conversation around analytical tools, methods, and frameworks for sustainable transport planning, but also to foster active participation that will result in the scaffolding of an open mobility dataset, a methods sandbox, or a set of toolkits to support ongoing innovation in the field.

Beyond technical discussion, the workshop will emphasize knowledge-sharing and capacity building, ensuring that emerging mobility analytics methods are accessible to a wide audience, including students, professionals, and decision-makers. In doing so, the workshop will cultivate long-term international partnerships and lay the foundation for scalable, climate-adapted mobility solutions. Through collaborative dialogue and applied case studies, participants will gain valuable insights into sustainable mobility analytics and contribute directly to shaping the future of open, data-driven transportation planning.

Call for Participation

Participation in this workshop is free, but space is limited. We welcome contributions from academics, researchers, professionals, government representatives, and students alike. Our goal is to bring together diverse voices to help shape the conversation around sustainable mobility analytics and provide guidance on the tools, frameworks, platforms, and datasets needed to advance the field.

To be considered, please submit a brief Statement of Interest (maximum 300 words) via the button below. Your statement should highlight:

  • Your interest in the workshop theme. How does your work, research, or practice connect to sustainable mobility analytics?
  • Your background and expertise. What experience, insights, or perspectives do you bring?
  • Relevant projects, datasets, or tools you are working on (if applicable).

Selected participants will play an active role in discussions that aim to inform the creation of an open mobility dataset and/or analytics platform as well as a collective vision/outlook paper. Limited funding is available to support travel for participants who would otherwise be unable to attend.

Please submit your Statement of Interest by October 3. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and participants will be notified as decisions are made.
